Sarja on osa laajempaa "Henkien saarella" -kokonaisutta , jota olin kuvaamassa Sanni Sepon kanssa Japanissa Reiko Nirekin kutsusta.

Kysyin Shikokun saarella Kamiyaman kylässä tapaamiltaan ihmisiltä, millä yhdellä sanalla he voisivat kuvata parhaiten suhdettaan luontoon. Sarja on oman tulkintani Shikokulaisten luontoa kuvaavien sanojen merkityksistä. Luonto on olemassaolo, kiitollisuus, mahtava, sydämen koti, elämä, olemista sellaisenaan, aarre, jotakin suurta, suuri pyhä elämä...

I asked people whom I met in the village of Kamiyama on Shikoku which word they would choose to best describe their relationship with nature. I  photo-graphed the people holding the leaves on which the words were written. This became the series With One Word.

I also gave my own interpretation to the words that the islanders used. This series is entitled Nature Is. Nature is existence, gratitude, enormous, home of the heart, life, existence as such, a treasure, some-thing great, the great sacred life…
